Research interests

At Åbo Akademi University, I am Professor of Religion and Law. Furthermore, I am Vice-director of the Centre of Excellence in Law, Identity and the European Narratives (eurostorie.org) 2018-2025, at the Centre for European Studies, Department of Political and Economic Studies, University of Helsinki. I am Principle Investigator in the HERA funded research project Protestant Legacies in Nordic Law: Uses of the Past in the Construction of the Secularity of Law (2016-2019), https://teol.ku.dk/pronola/ , and an affiliated senior research fellow at the Erik Castrén Institute of International Law and Human Rights at the University of Helsinki.I hold the title of Docent of research in law and religion (University of Helsinki), and of Docent of theological ethics with philosophy of religion (Åbo Akademi University). I was an Academy Research Fellow (Academy of Finland) 2013-2018, and an Academy of Finland postdoctoral researcher 2009-2011.My research publications relate to the field of systematic theology, history of ideas, political theology, and the field of law & religion.They have also explored the topic of human rights from different historical and contemporary perspectives.
