Research interests
At Åbo Akademi University, I am Professor of Religion and Law, and leader of the ÅAU Strategic Profiling Area in Minority Research. Furthermore, I am Vice-director of the Centre of Excellence in Law, Identity and the European Narratives (eurostorie.org), at the Centre for European Studies, Department of Political and Economic Studies, University of Helsinki, and a McDonald Distinguished Senior Fellow of Law and Religion at Emory University School of Law, Atlanta, United States.
I am also an affiliated senior research fellow at the Erik Castrén Institute of International Law and Human Rights at the University of Helsinki. I hold the title of Docent of research in law and religion (University of Helsinki), and of Docent of theological ethics with philosophy of religion (Åbo Akademi University).
My research publications relate to the field of systematic theology, intellectual history, political theology, and the field of law & religion. They have also explored the topic of human rights from different historical and contemporary perspectives.
