Exploring Potential Pharmacy Customers' Experiences of the Gaze of a Social Robot - from a Caring Science Perspective

Abstract

In the growing use of social robots in healthcare, the gaze of these robots has become a crucial factor in facilitating successful interactions. The concept of "gaze" originates in philosophy. Levinas emphasizes that the gaze expresses an ethical dimension that is significant for relationships. According to Martinsen, the gaze should be used with respect and not as an expression of power or control. The purpose of this exploratory study was to investigate from a Caring Science perspective.
