    Sammanfattning

A computational approach is elucidated herein, whereby different shaped particles are packed computationally and joined together using a polymer binder addition algorithm. The effects of using different particle shapes and sizes were shown to have a significant impact on the global properties of the composites. Moreover, the distribution of binder around the particles is believed to have a critical saturation level. The models are to within one order of magnitude of experimental values. The computational method for ascertaining the global properties particle-polymer composites both novel and useful since the microstructure can be manipulated computationally to optimise the strength and stiffness properties of porous particulate composite materials.
