Abstract

The aim of the study was to invesgate how different teaching methods, singing, listening to songsandrecingsonglyrics,affectthedevelopmentofpronunciaonofFinnishasaforeign language pronunciaon. The secondobjecveof the studywastoinvesgatewhetherfuture classroomteachersandfutureFinnishasasecondlanguageteachersevaluatethestrengthof foreign accent differently. The results indicate that recing song lyrics is the most beneficial forthedevelopmentofpronunciaon.Thisteachingmethodisespeciallyusefulforbeginners’ level language learners. The future class teachers gave stricter evaluaons of foreign accent than the future Finnish as a second language teachers. Based on the results of the study, it could be argued that recing song lyrics could be used for teaching pronunciaon. Further, the results support previous findings that more experienced listeners give milder evaluaons thanmoreunexperienced.Thus,itwouldbevaluableforfutureteacherstogainexperiencein listeningdiverseaccents.
