Tarih, Anti-faşizm ve İstriya (II): Maden bizimdir!

This article examines the 1921 Labin Republic, a short-lived anti-fascist uprising in Istria, which emerged as a significant moment in both Yugoslav and global anti-fascist history. Following the Italian occupation of Istria, miners in the Labin coal mines led a rebellion against oppressive conditions, declaring self-management under the slogan "Kova je naša!" ("The Mine is Ours!"). The uprising, driven by workers from diverse nationalities, was violently suppressed after 37 days, but it laid the groundwork for future resistance and socialist movements in the region. The Labin Republic remains a symbol of solidarity, multiculturalism, and worker self-management.
