Religious and worldview education in ECEC

This text is about religious and worldview education that is part of the content in Finnish Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC). When using religious and worldview education, the text refers to the concepts katsomuskasvatus or åskådningsfostran that are expressed in the National Curriculum of Early Childhood Education (FNAE, 2022). Lamminmäki-Vartia et.al. (n.d.) define religious and worldview education as a part of the ECEC that supports the development of children’s cultural and religious identities and promotes mutual respect and understanding. Religious and worldview education is part of a linguistically and culturally aware ECEC and belongs to all children.
