Sammanfattning

Wood fractionation of wood to obtain monosaccharides, especially hexoses and pentoses, was studied using ionic liquid (IL) based pre-treatment. An HPLC equipped with isocratic elution as well as Diode array UV and refractive index detectors in series were developed for a simultaneous quantification of IL and monosaccharides. EmimCl alone could fractionate softwood polysaccharides to fermentable sugars. Hexoses and pentoses could be detected. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 19th International Congress of Chemical and Process Engineering and 7th European Congress of Chemical Engineering (Prague, Czech Republic 8/28/2010-9/1/2010).
