Sammanfattning

Recent scholars of early Jewish messianic expectations have often neglected the Book of Jubilees in their surveys. Those scholars who do discuss Jubilees have mostly focused on chs. 30–32. In his contribution, the author focuses on the portrayal of Judah in the whole book instead, and seeks for possible messianic traits in the figure of Judah. He analyses how the author portrays Judah in stories of the wars between Jacob and his enemies (chs 34 and 38), in the rewritten versions of the story of Judah and Tamar (ch. 41) and the Joseph story (chs. 42–44) and, finally, in the blessings of Rebekah and Isaac on Levi and Judah (ch. 31).
