Sammanfattning

The purpose of the chapter is to explore the concept and practices of Deliberative Mini-Publics. More specifically, we will examine both ‘internal’ and ‘external’ aspects of DMPs. By ‘internal aspects’, we refer to patterns of participation and deliberation in DMPs as well as the effects of deliberation on participants’ political views, knowledge. Regarding DMPs’ ‘external aspects’, we explore the functions of DMPs in democratic systems and their impacts on policies, public officials, elected representatives, and the public at large. In the concluding chapter, we evaluate the prospects of DMPs based on empirical and normative studies.
