Sammanfattning

The resources of fossil raw materials are diminishing, particularly access to crude oil. This concern is compounded with the state of the atmosphere and the imminent threat of global warming. Raw materials that can be realized from woody biomass are highlighted. The application of the concepts of catalysis and chemical reaction engineering in processing woody biomass is elucidated. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 7th European Congress of Chemical Engineering 7 and the 19th International Congress of Chemical and Process Engineering CHISA (Prague, Czech Republic 8/28/2010-9/1/2010).
