Sammanfattning

Even short encounters between caregivers and patients may be characterized as caring. In this paper we uncover the caring elements in the short encounter by studying patient’s told narratives. Invitation to an encounter, the caregiver’s sense for how the patient feels, the patient’s sense for the caregiver’s way of being and the prolonged time in the intense moment were found as caring elements that can create an encounter with opportunity for the patient to be both patient and human being.
