In today’s context of the environmental and social crisis, I am passionate about the relationship between humans and nature.
As any other species whose presence and activity significantly modify their environment, humans can be described as “ecosystem engineers”. In my research, I am interested in the unintended effects of humans as an engineer species in the functioning of benthic coastal ecosystems around the world (Baltic Sea, Gulf of Mexico, Senegal, Greenland, etc.).
MY RESEARCH FOCUS
My research aims to evaluate ecosystem engineering effects of humans on macrobenthic communities and ecosystem functioning by identifying:
(1) effects on structural and functional diversity of macrobenthos communities to different sets of human ecosystem engineering and abiotic potential drivers, using a combination of taxonomic and trait-based approaches;
(2) effects on multiple macrofauna-mediated ecosystem functions, acting as biotic feedback for humans.
