Biografi

Currently I work as project researcher on coastal fish and fisheries for the Centre for Sustainable Ocean Science (SOS), a Centre of Excellence at the Åbo Akademi University. Previously I have worked as project researcher within the Finnish Nature Panel's (https://luontopaneeli.fi) project LITORE (Expression forms of nature loss in Finnish coastal waters–guidelines for decision makers for conservation of marine biodiversity) at Åbo Akademi University, and as project manager in the EU Interreg project "RETROUT" at HELCOM on sea trouts and river restoration. I received my PhD in aquatic sciences in 2020 from the University of Helsinki on population dynamics of flounders in the Baltic Sea.

Forskningsintressen

I am an aquatic biologist and ecologist. I have been working mostly with fish ecology and have special expertise in Baltic Sea flounders and their population dynamics. Recently I have focused more also on broader scale issues linked to marine biodiversity and its loss. Previously I have also gained experience in conservation biology, policy and practise of migratory fish and their river waters including environmental restorations. Altogether, over the years I have worked with different systems and species, stock dynamics, population modelling, Bayesian techniques, population genetics, biomanipulation, climate change effects, among others.

In my current position as project researcher in WP 2 at SOS (The Centre for Sustainable Ocean Science, Åbo Akademi University) I review and explore the status of coastal fish and fisheries in the archipelago areas of Finland and Åland islands from a viewpoint of biodiversity, ecosystem services, and human pressures within a transdisciplinary sustainability framework.
