This event on English linguistics in Teacher Education at universities centred around issues and questions such as:- target norms and integrating changing norms, our knowledge about social media/CMC and language variation into curricula;
- the role of corpus literacy and corpus applications in teaching;
- the connection of teacher education with World Englishes;
- formal learning vs. incidental learning in times of social media.

The event was moderated by prof. Bernd Kortmann (president of ISLE).Special focus was given to the shared overall goal of identifying ways forward for achieving more coherence in the design of degree programmes for future teachers.
