□ While having some short-comings as a substrate, paper and board have a few advantages over plastic substrates: ■ Better control of surface energy and wetting ■ Allows for online infrared sintering of metal inks ■ Environmentally friendly, compostable, widely available □ Improved understanding of what is required from a substrate for printability of functional inks has been gained □ A number of phenomena and printed functional device concepts demonstrated on paper open up many interesting applications.
