Invandring, utvandring och arbetsmarknadsframgång – lider Finland av brain drain?

Is Finland losing out in the international competition for highly educated individuals? The
results indicate that Finland suffers from brain-drain to some extent. The magnitude of the
problem is not alarmingly large, and it has not become worse during the recent past. Although
immigrants to Finland have substantially less education than the Finnish public at large, they
are likely better educated than immigrants to Sweden or Denmark. Despite this the labour
market performance of Finland’s immigrant is roughly as bad as for immigrants in the rest of
Wester Europe. This amounts to a failure of assimialtion policies.
