Abstrakti
Compounds with Iona hydrocarbon chains, such as triolein, oleic acid and steryl esters, reduced tensile strength and friction of paper. All extractives tested increased the contact angle of water on the sheet surface due to the hydrophobic nature of the compounds. The increase varied, however, with the different compounds tested. Small amounts of extractives affected the sheet properties significantly. However, the effect levelled out at amounts above 1-2 mg/g.
