Projektin tiedot
Description
Shipping emits over 1 billion tons of CO2e per year, 2% of global GHG emissions. To reduce the emissions caused by shipping focus must be put on existing ships and how they are part of a transport corridor one at a time. The aim of the Decatrip project is to create a multi-organisational business model for decarbonizing the Turku-Stockholm transport corridor. Together the company consortium represents the entire value chain for decarbonizing maritime transport corridors. Solutions and business models for local renewable fuel production and sustainable ships will be developed during the project.
The concept developed for the Turku-Stockholm transport corridor will also be applicable for other transport corridors. As part of this project, the consortium will identify 3-5 cases on which the developed concepts can be applied. Hence, the outcome of the project will be a proof-of-concept of a multi-organisational business model to enable the investments needed to decarbonize transport corridors using locally produced renewable fuels.
