I am a doctoral researcher in the Study of Religions and my disertation, Negotiating Migration: Migration Policy Discourse Between the African Union and European Union, investigates 'migration' as a negotiation between the two suprnational institutions towards the construction of joint and separate policies on the topic. By deconstructing how various actors from the two continents understand, define, and thereafter utilise common understandings of 'migration', I explore the ways in which it becomes problematised and therefore 'in need of a solution' through joint policy development. 

In addition to my disertation, I am also a member of the RelEx research project. I am also interested in broad questions of social exclusion, as well as a broad theme of migration from a 'Global South' perspective. I have for example explored xenophobia in post-apartheid South Africa, and have an avid interest in the practices, and ideological rationale behind the exclusion of certain groups/communities from societies globally.
