I work as a researcher and university lecturer in education. I hold a title of docent in education, adults' societal learning, at University of Oulu. In my previous research, I have been interested in popular education (Finnish 'vapaa sivistystyö', Swedish 'folkbildning'), especially from the participants' perspectives. In relation to this field, my interest has recently mostly been focused on education as part of party-political practices.

Currently, I am also involved in research scrutinizing the platformization of education by investigating the school administration and communication platform widely used in Finland - Wilma.

My research mainly draws on socio-material theories and ethnographic approaches.
