Tutkimuksen mielenkiinnon kohteet

I am a PhD candidate in Gender Studies and part of the Minority Profile. My research focuses on the politics of "mixed-race" identity  in the context of decolonization in Kanaky/New Caledonia. I am particularly intersted in how "mixed-raceness" is discursively deployed in contemporary Kanaky/New-Caledonia and what work this deployment and category does. My work takes root in the fields of critical (mixed-)race studies and settler colonial studies.

I am also currently working on a project on racism in Finnish universities. I am particularly interested in how the national and institutional focus on gender equality and Finnish/Nordic exceptionalism obscure the presence of systemic and institutional racism.

My research interests are in contemporary colonial relations and the legacy and continuation of colonialism in the everyday lives of peoples. I am also interested in gendering issues of race and racism and have developed and taught the masters's course 'White Women & White Feminism' using critical race and whiteness studies as well as Black, Third World and Indigenous feminisms. I have a Masters in Women's Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Social Psychology from the University of York (UK) and a Bachelor of Business from Ecole de Gestion et de Commerce du Pacifique Sud (New Caledonia).
