The data were used to investigate the differences in sediment and porewater physical and chemical characteristics in seafloor areas occupied by the stonewort species Chara tomentosa in comparison with those where no charophytes were found. The aim was to study the environmental requirements of C. tomentosa in the light of restoration of charophyte habitats.
