Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

identify and define racism and racial ideologies both historically and in the contemporary context, in Finland and elsewhere
have knowledge of a range of theoretical tools to understand contemporary debates about 'race', ethnicity and difference.
articulate reasons why racial discourse and racist practices persist in the 21st century
reflect on the experience of racism and racial conflict and outline its relationship to broader social contexts, including economic and political interest, cultural practices and identity discourses
reflect on different antiracism methodologies
relate race and racism to social exclusion
introduce and engage student in anti-racism education and activism in Finland

Students will organise a one-day seminar on anti-racism at the Faculty of Arts, Psychology and Theology at Åbo Akademi
