Abstract
Transhumanism, a movement advocating for the integration of human and technological advancements, challenges traditional notions of biology, sparking intense debates over how innovation might be balanced against ethical responsibility. Transhumanist technologies promise transformative benefits, such as eradicating genetic disorders and enhancing human potential. However, they also pose significant ethical questions regarding fairness, accessibility, and the regulation of societal disparities.
Transhumanist technologies promise transformative benefits, such as eradicating genetic disorders and enhancing human potential. However, they also pose significant ethical questions regarding fairness, accessibility, and the regulation of societal disparities.
Students will be tasked with critically evaluating the impact of these technologies, identifying the ethical dilemmas arising from their adoption, and exploring how to regulate phenomena like “genetic tourism,” where individuals travel to countries with relatively loose regulations to pursue genetic enhancements.
