Abstract
This article reports on the results of the first in-depth investigation of the Christian yoga program the Yoga of Stillness in Finland. It accounts for how the practice is structured, framed, and legitimated as a specifically Christian practice, and what meanings are ascribed to the program by its instructors. It also accounts for the process whereby the practice has gradually become ever more firmly establish in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland. As such, the article provides a case study illustrating a broader translational trend whereby originally non-Christian meditation techniques are increasingly making their ways into traditional and institutional Christian settings.
