Abstract
Abstract This chapter provides a holistic view of ocean wave energy resources and related topics. It explores the untapped potential of harnessing the massive power of ocean waves to generate clean and sustainable energy. An introduction to the fundamental principles of wave generation and propagation, wave theories and modeling methods, wave resource assessment and common analysis methods, the key factors that influence the intensity and consistency of wave energy resources, the geographical distribution of wave energy resources across the globe, the technological advancements in wave energy conversion devices, and the economic viability of wave energy are presented.
