Abstract

This case study explores the intricacies of time management, communication styles, and trust building within a diverse multicultural team at Mexpando, a digital company spanning Switzerland and Mexico. Founded in 2019 by Yves Dierauer and Stefan Widmer, the company’s unique approach to time management, blending monochronic and polychronic time perceptions, highlights the challenges posed by time differences between the two countries. Mexpando’s adept handling of communication styles, balancing emotional understanding with the pursuit of strategic goals, is crucial for fostering a harmonious work environment. Trust challenges stemming from cultural differences are addressed through the founders’ emphasis on shared values during the hiring process. The study provides practical implications for leveraging diversity, addressing time-related challenges, and cultivating trust within multinational teams.
