    Abstract

Multiphysics phenomena that occur when metering coating colours between paper and a composite polymeric-steel blade are simulated in this paper. The paper discusses modelling requirements for coating process technologies that have been fulfilled using FEMLAB software, as well as requirements that still need to be modelled in order to accurately simulate the complex interdependent interaction between fluids and solids. For this purpose, Newtonian fluid flow is coupled with both elastic as well as elasto-plastic deformation of contacting solid components.
