Abstract

Lignin is the second most abundant component in wood after cellulose. A lot of attention is paid nowadays to applications of lignin in different areas. In 1970-s suspension of hydrolysis lignin in water was proposed to be used for pre-treatment of seeds as well as a media for seed germination. Nevertheless the hydrolysis lignin has number of problems such as acidic pH and need for micronization in order to make a suspension. The aim of this study is to use mild-alkaline-extracted spruce lignin as a plant growth regulator.
