Abstract

Method of producing nanocellulose films. According to the method a nanocellulose dispersion is applied on a surface of a substrate to form a layer, and the layer is dried on the surface of the substrate to form a film. According to the invention, the substrate comprises a fibrous substrate coated with release layer comprising for example silicone. The use of such a layer will allow for drying of the nanocellulose at increased temperatures of, for example at 140 to 210°C, whereby high-throughput production of nanocellulose films can be reached. The nanocellulose films can be used in paper packaging, energy storage, water treatment, biomedical engineering and pharmaceuticals.
