Abstract
This article deals with ‘comparison’ as a concept and as a method in contributions to cultural linguistics. It briefly summarizes the history of comparative and contrastive approaches in linguistics and cultural linguistics in order to propose a methodological approach that cultural linguists can use and adapt for empirical comparative studies. The proposition is based on existing theories and methodologies of comparison, on theoretical reflections on the challenges of comparison, as well as on an example.
