Abstract

The kinetics of methanol hydrochlorination in an alumina-coated microreactor was studied. As starting point for the kinetic modelling, a classical Langmuir approach was used. Kinetic modeling results correlated well with the experimental results, with relative errors < 2% for the kinetic constants. The data obtained in the microreactor will be expanded with that from a tubular reactor. In this way, the performance of the two reactors can be compared and the conversion as well as the selectivity at higher residence time is obtained.
