Abstract
Application: Calcium ions are abundant in white waters of paper machines that use calcium carbonate and calcium sulfate as fillers or coating pigments. The calcium-containing white water is typically reused in mechanical pulping. Interactions between calcium and especially highly charged pectic acids can have detrimental effects. This study focuses on the significance of these interactions.
