Abstract
For the first time, the effects of iron-subgroup metal chlorides on polymer cord conversion to liquid and gaseous pyrolysis products have been studied. The optimum parameters for pyrolysis were identified (T = 450 °C, CoCl2 2 wt%). The presence of aprotic acidic centers of the iron-subgroup metal chlorides on the polymer cord was confirmed by FTIR. The catalytic effect of iron-subgroup metal chlorides is predominantly attributed to the acidic properties of the catalysts used.
