    Abstract

Crystal structures of copper-containing amine oxidases (CAOs) have been solved from eubacteria, plants, yeasts and mammals including humans, but interestingly not from archaea or mycobacteria (Table 9.1). The structures are remarkably conserved TABLE 9.1 Crystal Structures of Copper-Containing Amine Oxidases Deposited in the Protein Data Bank as of March 9, 2008 TABLE 9.1 (Continued) (Table 9.2) both in the core catalytic domains and also in the peripheral domains that presently have no known function.
