Abstract
A review with 27 refs. is given on aspects of the consolidation process in paper coating reflecting the author's opinion under consideration of the following main features: water transport in paper, water retention of a coating color (mechanism and measurement), consolidation mechanism, coating consolidation in blade coating, and math. modeling of coating layer consolidation.
