Abstract
The present thesis provides insights into port operation in Finland from a business ecosystem perspective. The aim is to identify bottlenecks for short sea shipping development by improving port operation’s efficiency. The approaching starts with unveiling the actual business ecosystem and existent business models of port operators. Challenges are composed of factors that affect port operation and its ecosystem. However, for sustainable development in the port operation ecosystem, co-evolution in harmony among actors is required.
