Research output: Other contribution

Abstract

The provision of healthcareservices occurs within complex healthcare systems, and due to economic, technological, professional and client demands extensive changes are currentlybeing seen. Traditional professional roles are being challenged and task shiftingis being utilized at an increasing rate. New complex models of healthcareservices are being developed, in which teamwork will become of even greaterimportance than today. In that advanced practice nurses hold a key role inmulti-professional teamwork, one should ask whether and how advanced practicenursing contributes to a person-centered healthcare system. What is known aboutthe impact of person-centeredness in healthcare? Is the concept still viable oris it more a case of “the Emperor’s new clothes”? These topics will behighlighted through research findings, the Nordic model for advanced practicenursing’s core nursing values and competence areas, and insights from researchconducted in the Nordic countries in advanced practice nursing.
