Abstract

Polymer-supported fiber catalysts, commercially available from Smoptech Ltd, were used in two-phase batchwise esterification of acetic acid with several alcohols and in the three-phase batch hydrogenation of an unsaturated aldehyde, among other reactions. A kinetic model was developed for esterification, and the proposed rate equation explained the experimentally recorded concentrations well.
