Adaptation of microalgae in a changing environment

Project Details

Description

We aim to increase the mechanistic understanding of how primary producers will respond to rapid changes in the marine environment by integrating across ecological and evolutionary levels.
1) What genes in pre-Anthropocene vs. modern strains of diatoms show signs of adaptation in relation to documented changes in environmental conditions?
2) What is the effect of increasing sea floor temperature on the bentho-pelagic coupling and diversity of plankton species?
3) What is the effect and relative contribution of adaptation of species on community structure and functioning?
