Biography
My research focuses on Arctic history, educational history, and the history and ethics of environmental issues
My publications include Language, Citizenship and Sámi Education in the Nordic North, 1900–1940 (McGill-Queen’s University Press, 2021) and Kortekangas et al. (eds.) Sámi Educational History in a Comparative International Perspective (Palgrave 2019).
-2024-2028, project leader and principal investigator (PI) of the project MaMeFo: The Manifold Meanings of Forests in Comprehensive Education in the Nordics 1972–2023, funded by the Kone Foundation.
-teaching and supervising on BA and MA levels
-Docent in Nordic studies at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Helsinki, Finland.
-member of the Young Academy of Finland.
-2022–2025 Postdoctoral researcher in the project TRiNC: Truth & Reconciliation in the Nordic Countries.
-Prior to my current projects, I worked as a postdoc at the Division of History of Science, Technology and Environment at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden (funded through the Swedish Research Council’s International Postdoc Grant, 2019-2022). I have also worked as a visiting scholar at Scott Polar Research Institute at the University of Cambridge, UK (April-June 2019, funded through the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences postdoc grant), and as a part-time university lecturer (fixed term) at Stockholm University 2018-2019.
-I am mainly interested in environmental history, history of education, and Arctic and Sámi history.
