Personal profile

Research interests

I am a Postdoctoral researcher in Social Policy at the Faculty of Education and Welfare Studies at Åbo Akademi University. I defended my thesis on the topic of well-being in very old age in April 2021, in which I explored the conceptualization of well-being as well as age differences and changes over time. I have also worked in projects related to social inclusion in old age, informal caregiving, as well as well-being, activities, and loneliness among home care recipients. As a postdoctoral researcher, I have been interested in themes such as civic engagement in later life and the association between social capital and well-being. I am currently leading a project on changes in civic engagement among older adults in Ostrobothnia (Finland) supported by the Swedish cultural foundation and Högskolestiftelsen i Österbotten.
