Personal profile
Biography
I am an urban researcher exploring how communities reshape cities, with a focus on the city of Havana’s contested heritage, grassroots memory practices, and everyday struggles for justice in public space. My work relies primarily on ethnographic methods. I hold a PhD in Latin American Studies from the University of Chicago.
Currently, I am a postdoctoral researcher in the OBaMa project (Overcoming Barriers to Democratic Participation with Minoritized and Marginalized Groups), funded by the Research Council of Finland. Within this project, we investigate inequalities in participation faced by different minoritized and marginalized groups, and we also work to develop solutions to overcome these barriers through co-research and co-creation in collaboration with community representatives and organizations that support them.
