Hugo Strandberg

Philosophers and philosophical traditions I am engaging with primarily include the following:

- Wittgenstein

- Hegel

- Existential philosophy (Buber, Weil, Kierkegaard)

- Critical theory (Marx, Freud, Nietzsche)

- Phenomenology (Arendt, Heidegger, Levinas)

Born in Vårby gård (south-west Stockholm), I grew up in Eskilstuna, where I attended Fröslundaskolan and S:t Eskils gymnasium. At Uppsala University I did my under- and postgraduate studies (major: comparative religion). After having defended my doctoral thesis there (in philosophy of religion), I left Sweden for Finland and the Department of philosophy at Åbo Akademi University, where I have lived and worked since then, nowadays as associate professor of philosophy.

I am ‘docent’ in philosophy of religion (Uppsala University) and ‘docent’ in philosophy (Åbo Akademi University).

I spent 2018-2021 as a researcher at the Centre for Ethics, University of Pardubice, Czech Republic (on temporary leave from Åbo Akademi University). I have also been guest researcher at the University of Melbourne, Australia.

Utöver de årligen återkommande filosofikurserna (för tillfället fr.a.
