Biography

Eduardo Abrantes is a sound artist, artistic researcher, and postdoctoral fellow at Åbo Akademi University, affiliated with the Inez and Julius Polin Institute for Theological Research. With a PhD in Philosophy and Phenomenology of Sound from Nova University of Lisbon, his transdisciplinary work bridges artistic research, performance design, and embodied knowledge production. His research engages with sensory experimentation, participatory environments, and collective embodiment, often through site-specific and immersive sound-based strategies. Abrantes contributes to projects aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those addressing ecological awareness and social imaginaries. His artistic practice is deeply informed by philosophical inquiry, somatic experience, and collaborative composition, with outputs ranging from sound installations and performances to scholarly publications and editorial work.
