The importance of local habitats for the structural and functional biodiversity of fish and invertebrate communities in coastal ecosystemsMy PhD project will focus on fish communities in different coastal habitat types and their link to benthic invertebrates taking into account the possible consequences of this connection for ecosystem functioning. Thereby, the structural and functional biodiversity of fish and invertebrates comprising abundance, number of species and biological traits will be taken into account and related to the respective habitat characteristics. Furthermore, the impact of a shifting environment (caused by eutrophication, climate change, invasive species and harvesting of marine resources) on faunal communities in their habitats and on coastal ecosystems in general will be assessed. Field work will be conducted in the Åland archipelago situated at the entrance of the Bothnian Sea in the northern Baltic Sea.This study is part of the MARmaED - project (Marine Management and Ecosystem Dynamics under Climate Change) funded by the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action (The European Union's Horizon 2020).http://www.marmaed.uio.no/
