Personal profile

Research interests

I am the University Teacher / Head of the Social Exclusion Masters Programme. I also hold the title of Docent in Sociology with specific expertise in Studies in Diversity at Åbo Akademi, Turku. I research on issues of race, racism, antiracism and antiracism education - in and out of schools. I have also researched on Ethnic Profiling in Finland (The Stopped – Pysäytetyt.) as well as Hate Crimes in Finland (ENAR). I am currently working on developing the first Antiracism Mobile Phone app in Finland in the Intersectional Border Struggles and Disobedient Knowledge in Activism (KNOWACT) project (2018-2022). My approach to Social Exclusion is multidisciplinary and sociologically rooted around qualitative research approaches.
