The research at Information Technology is organized around on four themes:
- data-driven green transition in industry
- high performance, energy efficient algorithms and low emission computing platforms for artificial intelligence and machine learning
- mission critical, secure and resilient software systems
- modeling and simulation for biosciences
The unit is part of the Doctoral Programme in Science and Information Technology, the Finnish Doctoral Program Network in Artificial Intelligence (AI-DOC) and coordinates FAST, the Finnish Software Engineering Doctoral Research Network.
The unit is responsible for the following undergraduate and graduate programmes:
- Bachelor of Science (technology) in Computer Engineering
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
- Master's Degree Programme in Information Technology: Computer Engineering in Åbo
- Master's Degree Programme in Information Technology: Computer Engineering in Vasa
- Master's Degree Programme in Information Technology: Computer Science
Moreover, the unit is coordinating the following double-degree and Erasmus Mundus master's programmes:
