Description

The level of engagement with climate change mitigation and adaptation varies widely among municipalities. We examined the commitments, plans and ambitions related to climate change mitigation and adaptation in 209 German municipalities and scored them using an updated assessment framework. The resulting dataset includes details of the ranking approach and the scores for each of the three dimensions (i.e., commitment, plans and ambitions) of climate change mitigation and adaptation, as well as the total score for both policy fields and the combined climate policy score. Furthermore, it provides information on all 209 municipalities, including their size, location within a federal state, county affiliation and role in Germany's 'central places' system.
